SITUATION
A mid-market drilling services operator running mission-critical systems around the clock had relied on the same Managed Service Provider for years. On the surface, the arrangement felt stable. In practice, a product development manager had inherited day-to-day IT oversight by default and was spending more of his week chasing tickets and mediating between the MSP and frustrated employees than doing his actual job.
CHALLENGE

We ran a four-pillar MSP performance review: in-depth interviews with seven employees, a 20-person staff survey at 70 per cent participation, a line-by-line invoice audit, and a security posture assessment benchmarked against three competing MSPs in market.

The data made the recommendation clear. We built a Services Overview Matrix, defined Service Level Objectives for the first time, and prepared the client to go to market from a position of strength rather than frustration.
Deliver
We provided the governance framework and vendor selection support to ensure the next MSP relationship was built around strategy, not ticket counts. The product development manager was no longer the de facto CIO.
RESULTS
The engagement identified more than $108,000 in annual savings. Critical security gaps had remediation steps assigned. The client entered their next MSP relationship with defined SLOs, a co-managed model, and a governance framework that gave them real accountability from day one.
